Powder transport and abrasive particles handling

Working with solids and abrasive particles can be a challenge for transfer lines in different sectors and applications. From the most industrial applications like sawdust aspiration in carpentry to tablets transfer in pharma industries and sugar dossing in food processing companies. It is very common to find abrasive powders at some stage of the production process.

Powder and solid transfer are not just a challenge in terms of abrasion resistance but from the static electricity that generates inside the system due to the movement of certain particles.

In the case of hoses used for this kind of applications, and given the nature of certain materials and particles, together with the suction or pumping velocity, static charges are created.

Those charges difficult the constant and uniform flow due to the adhesion of the transferred material to the hose walls. This is the main reason why for these applications antistatic constructions are commonly demanded by customers.

Sometimes adding a copper or steel wire to the construction it’s enough to solve this problem but for more demanding applications, the material must be conductive itself.

The other main problem with solid and powder transfer lines is the abrasion resistance of the materials used. It is equally important to pay close attention to the material selection to choose the right solution for our application.

Venair solutions for abrasive applications

VENAIR offers different solutions for powders and solid transfer lines and together with its R&D team, has been developing new materials to fit the most demanding applications. This helps VENAIR cover a wide range of applications for this purpose.

Depending on the installation and customer requirements, we will be using either transparent hoses like VENA® TECHNIPUR VAC or more robust products like the VENA® ABRASIL product range.

VENA®TECHNIPUR VAC

Transparent and flexible solution made from abrasion resistant polyurethane. Especially recommended for the transport of all types of abrasive particles and powders in food and pharma applications at lower pressures. FDA approval.

VENA®TECHNIPUR S100/S200

Transparent solution made from abrasion resistant polyurethane. Designed to withstand high pressures during solids transfer in the food and pharma industries. FDA approval.

VENA®ABRASIL

Robust and flexible solution made from an exclusive FDA and USP Class VI material developed by VENAIR. Highly resistant to abrasion and designed to withstand high pressures during solids transfer in the food and pharma industries. Can be cleaned by SIP processes or hot water.

VENA® ABRASIL X as antistatic version with conductive inner layer if needed.

The TECHNIPUR product range is available in antistatic version with conductive material with low electrical surface resistivity or equipped with a copper wire spiral to help the discharge of static electricity.

New solution. VENA®ABRASIL CLEAR

VENA® ABRASIL CLEAR is the new incorporation to the solid transfer product range. Made from an exclusive transparent material developed by VENAIRs R&D department. It is recommended for those applications where transparency and high performance are two basic demands in the food and pharma sectors.

This new hose has great resistance to abrasion, SIP cleaning processes and pressure thanks to a polyester reinforcement between layers.

Construction equipped with copper wire spiral to help the discharge of static electricity.

Material in VENA® ABRASIL CLEAR in accordance with FDA and USP Class VI standards.
